Following the success of his Circus events and driven by a desire to get back in the studio and make music, Yousef has launched Circus Recordings, with the new label’s first release scheduled for May 5. The label is to be based around the musical direction of the Circus events, so expect a wide range of sounds from the imprint over the coming months. The club nights started in a small 400-capacity venue created specifically for Yousef to play in his home town of Liverpool. From there it’s become one of the UK’s biggest night, playing host to the widest spectrum of sounds and some of the world’s best spinners, from Carl Cox’s techno and Luciano’s deep sounds, to Fatboy Slim's party anthems and Laurent Garnier's. The first release on Circus Recordings is a two-track EP from Yousef himself – and we’re told that Letter To No One and Purple Rage cover the current climate at Circus of “forward-thinking electronica and techno with house flavours and melodic hooks”.
