Breaks label Botchit & Scarper looks set for a busy 2009, thanks in part to the creation of new sub-label Contrabass. The imprint kicked off at the end of last year with Oublie-Moi, a massive track from Jason Sparks which got floors moving all over the world and picked up support from Freq Nasty, Plump DJs, Ashley Beedle. Eddy Temple Morris, Jay Cunning and Annie Nightingale. Now Jason’s back with the follow-up, Bad Samba – and this cross-genre monster that’s helping the Contrabass buzz no end. Bad Samba sees Jason mixing up broken beat and house for the original, before going down the 4/4 path for his remix. And to complete the package is a dub/breakstep mix from Poland’s Adam Faz. With releases on Born Idle Records and Bombtraxx, he’s one of Poland’s biggest promoters and a name to watch out for.
But before all that hits the shelves in the coming weeks, we’ve got hold of a tasty little mini-mix from Jason to give you an idea of what Contrabass and his own unusual samba-esque sound is all about…
