We've got our hands on the acid house pioneer's set from Inner City Acid's third birthday – which should keep you going till Pierre drops his new album…

These are exciting times for DJ Pierre, a man who can genuinely be described as one of the founding fathers of today’s electronic music scene. He practically invented acid house way back in the 80s, but now he’s DJing and producing with renewed vigour. Last summer saw him fly out to Chicago to meet with Green Velvet to create Acid Trax2, a remix of the tune that started it all. “It was exciting working with the 303 again,” says Pierre, “And Green Velvet made it real easy doing this remix because he brought a new energy and such great ideas that almost left me as a spectator.” But now DJP is promising a new album some time this year – and that can only be a good thing.

In the meantime, here’s part one of Pierre’s mix from Inner City Acid’s third birthday party. The little Glasgow club has been putting on some top-drawer parties over the past few years, standing out in a city saturated with club nights by virtue of its excellent residents and imaginative guests. Next month’s bash with Luke Vibert (aka Wagon Christ) looks set to be another cracker, but this belter from Pierre should keep you going till then.
