“Music is about life. Music is about people. It is my life dream to bring music to the people. If I can make just one person lose themselves in the music, then I feel I’m giving something special back – from something I’ve been given.” So says D:Fuse, one of the USA’s most respected artists. This man is a machine – he runs a groundbreaking radio show, The People’s Mix, in the US, where it’s America’s top nationally broadcasted electronic show. He’s constantly DJing around the world, and he has a rich history of production behind him. Now he’s really stepping on the gas – he put out his debut album, Skyline Lounge, recorded with Mike Hiratzka last year; March sees the release of Perfection, another collaboration with Hiratzka; and there are tonnes more projects in the pipeline
In 2006 D:Fuse relocated to Los Angeles to launch a new label, Lost Angeles Recordings, alongside Hiratzka, and produce Skyline Lounge. It took a full year of intense studio sessions but went down a storm with the likes of Matt Darey, Cedric Gervais, Hernan Catteneo, Nick Warren, Jody Wisternoff, Noel Sanger, Kenneth Thomas and Trent Cantrelle. And then there’s his DJing…
“For me, it’s all about bringing energy to the people,” says D:Fuse. “Playing percussion is an important part of that. I want the crowd to know that I’m not just there to play records. I’m there with them and feeling all the same energy that they’re experiencing. When I’m in the booth or on stage something switches on inside me, and it all builds from there.”
So to give you a taste of what D:Fuse is all about, we’ve got hold of this hour-long MP3 mix…
