Caper is 24-year-old Joe Lambert, a dubstep producer based in Southampton who has been producing for the last 10 years, remixing for the likes of Ministry Of Sound and Universal, and featuring on a number of compilations alongside some of the biggest names in underground music. More recently, he’s released the acclaimed single Hybrid on Studio Rockers, and for his next release, Jump Up - the debut single to be released on new imprint 10 Against One - he really shows his diversity as a producer.
The track is a collaboration with Sweetie Irie, one of the biggest names in UK ragga, in which Caper fuses old skool garage breaks with nu skool dubstep sensibilities. On the flip is Nocturnal, which finds us back in the realms of dubstep. Here Caper delves deeper and brings us another slice of future dub, matching Indian percussion and dreamlike soundscapes before driving synths and bass bring you right back down to the dancefloor. All in all, it’s a good way to launch 10 Against One, which Caper hopes will blur the lines between dubstep, ragga and garage, while showcasing some of the most exciting artists in dubstep.
